| The Biswa family. Two teenage sons and a 10 year old daughter. Tul Maya (mom) and Tek (dad) in the middle. Tek's mother and sister also live with the family. |
In the 1990's many Hindus that were living in southern Bhutan were forcibly removed from their homes and relocated to refugee camps in Nepal. Tul Maya and Tek Bdr Biswa were among the people forced to leave behind their farms and homes. They met and married in a refugee camp over 18 years ago and have been in Utah for 4 months. They have family that came before them and have helped them acquire furniture and some of the more basic items. Tul Maya speaks some English and was a teacher in the refugee camps. She seems very driven and has a big heart. The two teenage sons are working to learn English and were both baptized into the church recently. The eldest son, Ramesh was excited when he found out I was Mormon and told me he was going to be a missionary. The grandmother greeted us with a bow and a warm "namaste". Here is the link to the sign up sheet for the Biswa family.
