Additional Basic Kit

Sisters,

We have had such an outpouring of support for our humanitarian project that we have added sign ups for an additional basic kit and added a few basic items such as toothpaste to the other lists.  If you don't see anything you would like to sign up for, please feel free to bring any basic hygiene items such as soap and toilet paper and it will be shared with other families in similar situations.  You can also add items at the bottom of any sign up sheet.  I was moved to tears as I read through the names of the people who have signed up and thought about the joy the families will feel as we deliver the items.  Thank you for your generosity and support! Link to Basic Kit Sign up

Refugee Families Sign Up

Thank you for your interest in helping these wonderful families.  Below you will find pictures and a little bit of information about each of the families we will be helping.  Read a little bit about them and if you would like to help, please follow the link at the end of each post and sign up for anything you would like to.  If you would like to sign up to help put together a general kit for a family that hasn't yet arrived, follow this link.  Kit for Future Family You may then bring the items to our Women's Conference on March 17th.  If you won't be able to attend the conference, you can send your items with someone else or drop your item(s) off to any member of the Stake Relief Society Presidency.

Thank You!

The Biswa Family - Kamal & Bishnu

We had a delightful time with the Biswa family.  Kamal & Bishnu met and married in a refugee camp over 18 years ago and have been in Utah for 4 months. They have family that came before them and have helped them acquire furniture and some of the more basic items.   Kamal and Tek (another family we are helping) are brothers.  The Biswa family has a 12 year old daughter, a 14 year old daughter, and a 10 year old son.  The two daughters were recently baptized members of the church.  They are all still in the process of learning English and a humble and kind family.  Here is the link for the Biswa family.  Biswa Family - Kamal&Bishnu Sign up

The Htoo Family

Poe May and Aughu Htoo have been in Utah for just a couple days. They are from Burma and have 7 children, 6 girls and the youngest being a boy.  Poe May has a sister that has been in Utah for 6 months and has helped them get settled.  They speak no English and I think are still a little overwhelmed.  Of all the families, I believe they have the biggest need.  The link to their sign up sheet is  Htoo Family Sign Up

Bhazi & Januka Baral

Januka (mom) and Bhazi (dad) Baral with their two children.
Bhazi and Januka Baral have been in Utah for 4 months.  They are both from Bhutan but were relocated to a refugee camp in Napal 18 years ago.  They met and were married in the refugee camp.  There is a sweet spirit in their home.  Bahzi's English is pretty good and he is looking for work.  Januka is taking English classes and other classes that are offered in the community.  Their daughter is 10 and their son is 14.  They have many of the basics but are still in need of some items.  When I asked the father what they needed, he said he was reluctant to tell me because he didn't want to sound like he was making demands.  They are good, kind, humble people.  Here is the link for the Baral Familiy.  Baral Family Link

Tul Maya and Tek Bdr Biswa

The Biswa family.  Two teenage sons and a 10 year old daughter. Tul Maya (mom) and Tek (dad) in the middle.  Tek's mother and sister also live with the family.
In the 1990's many Hindus that were living in southern Bhutan were forcibly removed from their homes and relocated to refugee camps in Nepal.  Tul Maya and Tek Bdr Biswa were among the people forced to leave behind their farms and homes.  They met and married in a refugee camp over 18 years ago and have been in Utah for 4 months. They have family that came before them and have helped them acquire furniture and some of the more basic items.  Tul Maya speaks some English and was a teacher in the refugee camps.  She seems very driven and has a big heart.  The two teenage sons are working to learn English and were both baptized into the church recently.  The eldest son, Ramesh was excited when he found out I was Mormon and told me he was going to be a missionary.  The grandmother greeted us with a bow and a warm "namaste".  Here is the link to the sign up sheet for the Biswa family.  Biswa Family Sign Up
